Power & Motor
Both saws are corded, run on 120 V, and draw 15 amps. Standard U.S. residential circuits are 120 V, 15 A, which will support either of the products.
The DWE7485 motor spins at 5800 rpm and the SPT99T-01 motor spins at 5300 rpm. But don’t get too caught up in these numbers, since the manufacturers measure them under ideal conditions, and they don’t have a direct impact on the saw’s real-world ability to handle different material.
Blade Compatibility
Both table saws accept 8 1/4” diameter blades and have a 5/8” arbor. Most 8-to-10” blades have a 5/8” arbor hole, so this size arbor maximizes blade compatibility.
The Skilsaw takes dado blades up to 1/2” thick. The DeWalt can’t handle dado blades. For woodworkers, this might be a significant deficiency. If you’ll want to use dado blades, consider loooking at a different model.
Size & Capacity
Both saws have 12” of rip capacity to the left side of the blade. The DeWalt has 24 1/2” of rip capacity to the right of the blade. The Skilsaw has 25” of rip capacity to the right side. As a rule, more rip capacity is better, but it typically also means a larger, heavier saw. Think about what types of rip cuts you’ll be making and choose the right size saw for you.
The DWE7485 can bevel its blade up to 45°, is able to cut up to 2 9/16” deep at a 90° angle, and will cut up to 1 3/4” at 45°. The SPT99T-01 can bevel the blade up to 46.5°, can cut up to 2 5/8” deep at an angle of 90°, and is able to cut up to 1 7/8” at a 45° angle.
The table on the DeWalt has a width of 22 3/4” and a depth of 22 3/4”. The table on the Skilsaw has a width of 23 1/2” and a depth of 21 1/2”.
